Overview:John H. Pyle was the son of Nicholas Pyle and Mary Ann Westbrook. Nicholas Pyle and Mary Westbrook are well known in the genealogical record (see, for example, ref). Nicholas was the son of Samuel Pyle and Charity Eason. Nicholas and Mary Ann were married in 1831 and had ten children, the first three being Everett Pyle, Nicholas H Pyle, and John H. Pyle. John H. Pyle appears many times in the genealogical record and it is beyond dispute that he was the son of Nicholas and Mary Ann. He was born in about 1835 in Mississippi and lived in Georgia, Alabama and later California as a married man. John H. Pyle married Amanda Barnes on Aug 17, 1859 in Tucson, Territory of Arizona and they had 4 children. Amanda divorced John on April 15, 1874 because he had disserted her on Sept 3, 1870. This date was well remembered by Amanda because the day before John had stabbed and killed a man and then fled, deserting his family. The desertion is the last reference in the genealogical record to John H. Pyle. In effect, John H. Pyle disappears from the genealogical record at this point. |
